George Allen

George Allen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Virginia Tech's College of Science. His research focuses on using satellite remote sensing to study freshwater resources, including rivers, lakes, and wetlands. He applies multispectral, thermal, and radar data to understand water movement and geomorphological changes driven by climate and land use. His work emphasizes conservation and sustainable management of surface water resources.

Education: PhD (Geological Sciences, UNC Chapel Hill, 2017), MS (Geological Sciences, UNC Chapel Hill, 2012), BS (Geology, UC Davis, 2008).
