Mark Edmundson is a University Professor of English at the University of Virginia, specializing in 19th-century American and British literature, Romanticism, and cultural criticism. He is a Guggenheim Fellow and NEH Distinguished Teaching Professor, known for blending literary scholarship with reflections on education, democracy, and the role of sports in shaping character.
