Lynne Sharon Schwartz is a faculty member at the Bennington Writing Seminars of Bennington College. With 19 books spanning fiction, nonfiction, translation, and poetry, her work is celebrated for elegant prose, complex characters, and thematic depth. New York Magazine selected her 9/11 novel The Writing on the Wall for its Best Literary Fiction Award in 2005, while Rough Strife (1980) and Leaving Brooklyn (1989) were nominated for prestigious awards including the PEN/Hemingway First Novel Award, National Book Award, and PEN/Faulkner Award.
