SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestryمعرفی
Mark Driscoll is a Research Associate and Director of the Institute for Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing and the Ultraviolet Light and Electron Beam Technology Center at SUNY ESF. He also serves as the university Radiation Safety Officer.
Research focuses on radiation applications in materials science and sustainable manufacturing:
- Radiation curing (UV, electron beam, X-ray) of polymers and composites
- Biomass pretreatment using electron beams for biofuels/biomaterials
- Development of sustainable wood-plastic composites and natural-based materials
- Radiation grafting and degradation processes
- Nanocellulose production and applications
Teaches Analytical Chemistry, Nuclear and Radiation Chemistry, and specialized courses in radiation curing. Directs graduate research for five PhD students working on projects including cellulose solubility improvement, radiation effects on materials, and polymer chemistry.
Publications demonstrate expertise in electron beam applications, polymer curing optimization, wood composite enhancement, and sustainable material development, with recent emphasis on energy-efficient manufacturing and biomass conversion.
