Mark D. Terjesen is a Professor of Psychology at St. John’s University, Queens, New York, and a core member of the School Psychology (PsyD and MS) programs. He previously served as program director and Chief School Psychologist at Milestone School for Child Development. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University. He has held leadership roles in organizations like the New York State Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association (APA), including past-president of APA’s Division 52 (International Psychology).
His research focuses on cognitive-behavioral interventions, school psychology practices, and international psychology. He has co-authored over 65 papers with students and published works like the Handbook of Australian School Psychology. He is an APA Fellow and recipient of the Virginia Staudt Sexton Early Career Award.
His training initiatives include collaborations with the Albert Ellis Institute for Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. He has presented globally on topics like ADHD assessment, teacher burnout, and international psychological practices. His work emphasizes evidence-based practices in schools and cross-cultural adaptations of psychological tools.
