Dr. Lega Leonor is a Professor of Psychology at Saint Peter's University. Her research focuses on cross-cultural applications of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), particularly examining how irrational beliefs impact well-being and interpersonal relationships in diverse populations. She has authored seven books, thirty peer-reviewed articles, and eight book chapters. Her work emphasizes developing culturally valid measurement tools for irrational beliefs and studying their role in vulnerable groups like victims of domestic violence.
Dr. Lega holds a Ph.D. from Temple University and a postdoctoral fellowship from the Albert Ellis Institute in NYC. She is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, and actively involved in academic service as a faculty member of Psi Chi, the psychology honor society. She teaches courses including Abnormal Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Psychopathology and Film.
Her professional accolades include lifetime membership at the Albert Ellis Institute and honorary presidency of Spain's REBT chapter within their national psychological association. Dr. Lega's research bridges theory and practice, advocating for culturally responsive therapeutic approaches globally.
