Mark D. Kesten is an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern Law School, specializing in teaching Legal Writing and Entertainment Law. He holds a J.D. from California Western School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia. His practice focuses on entertainment law, handling transactional matters such as music contracts, artist management agreements, and litigation in state/federal courts. Notable cases include defending a Forbes 30 under 30 company and securing a six-figure verdict against a real estate developer for copyright infringement of sculptures.
His research interests span copyright law in art, contractual challenges in the entertainment industry, and evolving employment protections. Prior to private practice, he worked at ICM Partners and had a career as an artist manager and commercial radio promoter.
His scholarly work critiques legal frameworks affecting artists and employees, bridging gaps between intellectual property, labor law, and entertainment business practices.
