John Tehranian is a Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, where he teaches Constitutional Law, Copyright Law, and Intellectual Property. He previously held tenured faculty positions at Chapman University and the University of Utah School of Law. Tehranian earned his A.B. from Harvard University and J.D. from Yale Law School. His research focuses on the intersection of law and culture, particularly intellectual property, civil rights, and race. He authored influential books such as Whitewashed: America’s Invisible Middle-Eastern Minority (2009) and Infringement Nation: Copyright 2.0 and You (2011). Tehranian’s scholarship has been cited in landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases and international legal forums.
His pro bono work includes representing immigrants, civil rights plaintiffs, and indigent criminal defendants, earning him the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services (2007).
