Mark Cruickshank

Dr. Mark Cruickshank is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Western Australia (UWA). He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from UWA (2007) and has postdoctoral experience at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (2011), focusing on DNA methylation dynamics in human cohorts. His research emphasizes high-risk leukaemia, cancer immunotherapy, and epigenetic mechanisms in childhood diseases. He leads projects on precision medicine and innovative therapies for incurable cancers and immune disorders.

Education: PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (UWA, 2007). Postdoctoral training at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (2011) and Telethon Kids Institute (2012–2020).

Research interests include DNA methylation, immunotherapy, cancer genomics, and epigenetic regulation in disease. His work addresses mechanisms of leukaemia progression and therapeutic strategies using multi-omics approaches.

Grants: Current active grant (2023–2026) on redox imbalance in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, and previous projects on gene interactions in cancer progression (2019–2022) and Notch signaling in B-cell development (2008–2009).

Labs/Teams: Leads research and teaching programs in cancer genomics, collaborating with institutions like Telethon Kids Institute and MCRI. Engages in interdisciplinary projects on immunotherapy and epigenetic biomarkers.
