Dr. Ben Wylie is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the School of Human Sciences and the Australian Centre for RNA Therapeutics in Cancer. He is also linked to the UWA Medical School and UWA Centre for Child Health Research (affiliated with The Kids Research Institute Australia). His research focuses on developing novel mRNA-based therapeutics and immunotherapy strategies for pediatric cancers, particularly sarcomas. He holds a PhD in immunology and cancer immunotherapy from UWA and the Telethon Kids Institute, completed in 2018. Wylie is a Cancer Council WA post-doctoral fellow and collaborates with the Sarcoma Research Group at Telethon Kids Institute.
His work bridges immunology and oncology, emphasizing local treatment strategies during the surgical 'window of opportunity.' Key projects include the development of anti-tumor hydrogels and combination therapies targeting immune checkpoints. He has secured funding for initiatives such as an intraoperative immunotherapy gel trial and RNA-based therapies to prevent cancer relapse.
