Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State Universityمعرفی
Mark Caddick is a Professor of Metamorphic Processes at Virginia Tech's Department of Geosciences (College of Science). His research focuses on tectonic processes at plate margins, particularly metamorphic and magmatic rock evolution. He employs multi-disciplinary methods to unravel tectonic histories through mineral analysis and geochemical signatures.
Education: Ph.D., Earth Science (University of Cambridge, 2005); M.S., Earth Science (University of Bristol, 2000).
Research Interests: High-temperature metamorphism, subduction zones (e.g., Himalayas, Alps), Archean crust evolution. Current projects include developing metamorphic rate models and studying modern/ancient tectonic settings.
Lab Group: Includes postdoctoral associates and Ph.D./M.S. students researching metamorphic processes, subduction dynamics, and crustal evolution. Collaborative work is highlighted at metamorphism.geos.vt.edu.
Teaching: Courses include GEOS 2024 (Earth's Dynamic Systems), GEOS 3704 (Igneous/Metamorphic Petrology), and GEOS 5704 (Geochemical Thermodynamics).
