Mark Burow is a Professor of Peanut Genetics at Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. His research program focuses on developing new peanut cultivars with enhanced yield, disease resistance, and stress tolerance, particularly targeting drought, heat, and salt stress conditions. Through international collaborations in Ghana and Burkina Faso, his work contributes to the global Peanut and Mycotoxin Innovation Lab/USAID project.
Research interests center on genomic technologies for crop improvement, with emphasis on traits like high oleic oil content, early maturity, and resistance to pests/diseases including leafspot, nematodes, and Sclerotinia blight. Current projects utilize molecular tools to advance peanut breeding efficiency.
