Mark Bolyard is a University Professor of Biology and Interim Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Union University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina and a B.A. from Hanover College. His research focuses on plant biotechnology, specifically secondary metabolite production in Artemisia abrotanum and plastination techniques. He has published widely on topics including plant regeneration, anatomical preservation methods, and laboratory protocols. As department chair and interim dean, he balances administrative leadership with hands-on teaching in biology labs and greenhouse settings. His work emphasizes integrating faith with scientific inquiry in undergraduate education.
Recent scholarship includes studies on Southern wormwood metabolism (2023), pigment application in plastination (2020), and RFID tagging in specimen management (2019).
