Mark Boady is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Drexel University's College of Computing & Informatics (CCI). He has been a faculty member since 2015 and holds a PhD in Computer Science from Drexel, which he earned in 2016 under the supervision of Professors Jeremy Johnson and Pavel Grinfeld.
Education:
- PhD in Computer Science, Drexel University, 2016
- MS in Computer Science, Drexel University, 2012
- BS in Computer Science (cum laude), Drexel University, 2006
His research interests lie at the intersection of theoretical computer science and education, with a focus on computer algebra, symbolic computation, quantum computing, quantum algorithms, and computer science education. He is particularly interested in automating complex mathematical computations and making advanced topics accessible to students. His work in quantum computing explores foundational algorithms such as Deutsch-Jozsa, Shor’s, and Grover’s, as well as hardware developments from IBM, Quantinuum, and the University of Pennsylvania.
The available articles and blog posts reflect a strong emphasis on educational exposition and theoretical exploration in quantum computing, combinatorics, and data hiding. Topics include the physics behind quantum computers, algorithmic foundations, and mathematical structures like Steiner Triple Systems and NS1D0 sequences, indicating a blend of research and pedagogy.
He is actively involved in mentoring students through senior design and research projects, serving as faculty advisor for student organizations such as the Drexel Gaming Association and Hack4Impact Drexel. His teaching includes core courses such as CS171, CS260, CS270, and CS502, covering programming, algorithms, and mathematical foundations.
