Mark Berry is a Lecturer in Criminology and BA Criminology Programme Leader at Bournemouth University. His research focuses on illicit drug markets, organized crime, youth crime, and cybercrime, with a methodological emphasis on ethnographic approaches in challenging environments.

Mark's research explores the dynamics of illicit drug enterprises, crime risk management practices by dealers, and displacement mechanisms in organized crime under surveillance. He advocates for covert ethnographic methods with hard-to-reach populations and has led international participatory action research projects, including youth resilience programs in Albania.
His recent publications examine financial risk strategies in drug enterprises, technology's role in smart city crime, and surveillance evasion tactics. He has secured grants from the Home Office and Dawes Trust for his work on SOC drivers in Albania and early career research.
Mark brings practical criminal justice experience from his time in the Youth Offending Team, enriching his teaching across multiple criminology units and his academic leadership role.
