Dr. Fiamma Terenghi is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Manchester's Department of Criminology, where she specializes in transnational organized crime, human trafficking, and cybercrime. She holds a PhD from the Catholic University of Milan and a five-year sociology degree from the University of Trento.
Her research focuses on illicit markets (drugs, tobacco, human trafficking), cyber-enabled crime, and urban security. She has led EU projects like V-BAR on vehicle crime prevention and FINOCA on organized crime financing.
Recent publications explore terrorism financing networks, digital technologies in human smuggling, and cocaine trade financial structures. Her work consistently examines how criminal organizations exploit digital platforms and transnational economic systems.
Dr. Terenghi collaborates with the eCrime research group at the University of Trento and advises EU policymakers on organized crime countermeasures.
