Georgios Antonopoulos

Prof. Georgios Antonopoulos is a Professor in the Social Sciences Department at Northumbria University, specializing in organized crime and illegal markets. He has held academic positions at Durham University and Teesside University, and has delivered guest lectures at institutions across Europe, including Utrecht University and the University of Trento. His research focuses on illicit economies, human trafficking, counterfeiting, and criminal policy. Antonopoulos has led projects funded by the European Commission, Economic and Social Research Council, and UK Ministry of Justice. He is editor-in-chief of Trends in Organized Crime, a board member of the Cross-Border Crime Colloquium, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (2019). He has advised international organizations like UNODC and the World Economic Forum.
