Mark Baker

Professor Mark Baker is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle, affiliated with the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy. His research focuses on sperm function and male infertility, particularly using proteomics and mass spectrometry to identify proteins critical for fertility. He holds a PhD from Monash University and has been awarded an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship.

Research interests include the role of oxidative stress, protein phosphorylation, and molecular mechanisms in sperm maturation. He collaborates with institutions globally and has published extensively on topics like sperm proteomics, infertility diagnostics, and antibiotic resistance.
