Dr. Mark A. Raider is a Professor of Modern Jewish History at the University of Cincinnati, affiliated with the Department of History in the College of Arts & Sciences. He also serves as Director of the Center for Studies in Jewish Education and Culture in the College of Education and chairs the University's Israel Initiative Committee.
- Education: BA from University of California, Santa Cruz (1988); MA and PhD from Brandeis University (1993, 1996); studies at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Dr. Raider's research focuses on American Jewish history, Zionism, and the intersection of Jewish and U.S. cultural history. His current projects include The Israeli Hero in the American Mind and America's Rabbi: Stephen S. Wise, exploring the evolution of Jewish identity and leadership in the 20th century.
Grants and Roles: Principal Investigator for the Israel Institute Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship (2025-2028). Previously held positions at the University at Albany and the Posen Foundation Education Project.
- Teaching: Courses on modern Jewish history, American Jewish history, U.S. history, American religious history, and pedagogy.
- Committees: Past president of the Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning.
