Mark A. Chancey is Professor of Religious Studies at Southern Methodist University specializing in New Testament studies, early Judaism, and archaeology of the Roman Near East.
Education: Ph.D., Duke University; M.A./B.A., University of Georgia.
Research examines the Gospels, Historical Jesus, and socio-political history of Roman Palestine. Publications include works on Galilee's cultural history and archaeology of biblical lands. Recipient of multiple teaching awards for excellence in religious studies education.
