Tim Wardle is Associate Professor and Chair of the Religion Department at Furman University. He holds a Ph.D. in New Testament studies from Duke University, an M.A. in Religious Studies from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a B.A. in History and Biblical Studies from Wheaton College. His research specializes in Gospel of Mark studies, Second Temple Judaism, Samaritan traditions, and the religious history of Jerusalem.
Dr. Wardle has received numerous honors including the Dorothy and B.H. Peace Endowed Chair (2021-present), Jim Smart Award for student mentorship (2021), and Chiles-Harrill Award for contributions to student life (2016). He leads study abroad programs to Israel, Jordan, Turkey, and Scotland, integrating archaeological sites with textual studies.
