Marjorie Everson serves as Assistant Professor and Director of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. With extensive clinical experience in cardiac, trauma, and general outpatient anesthesia cases, she leads one of the nation's premier nurse anesthesiology programs.
Her educational background includes a BSN from Southeastern Louisiana University, MS from Charity Hospital/Xavier University School of Nurse Anesthesia, and PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Everson maintains active roles in state and national professional advocacy organizations.
Research initiatives focus on disaster impact on anesthesia practice, production pressure dynamics, and patient safety systems. Current projects analyze pandemic-related disruptions through qualitative methodologies, examining both educational adaptations and frontline clinical challenges. Her work bridges clinical practice with policy development, particularly regarding closed claims analysis and diversity initiatives.
Professional engagement includes significant contributions to the AANA Journal with 9 publications since 2020, primarily addressing pandemic response systems, educational innovation, and historical analysis of anesthesia practice. Her research demonstrates consistent focus on system-level safety improvements and workforce resilience.
As Program Director, Dr. Everson oversees all aspects of the DNP Anesthesia curriculum while mentoring emerging nurse anesthetists. Her leadership extends to faculty stabilization initiatives and policy advocacy efforts addressing critical workforce shortages in specialized nursing fields.
