Angela Mund

Angela Mund, DNP, CRNA, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She serves as the 2022–2023 President of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), representing over 59,000 members. Her academic career spans 18 years, including roles at the University of Minnesota and MUSC, where she contributes as an educator, advocate, and clinician.

Research and Academic Focus: Mund’s work centers on healthcare policy, advancing nursing doctoral education, and optimizing cardiovascular anesthesia practices. She has testified before state and federal legislative bodies, emphasizing the role of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in delivering safe anesthesia care.

Leadership and Professional Contributions: Mund has held pivotal roles in the AANA, including President and Chair of the Political Action and Resolutions Committees. She served as President of the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists and on the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ Board of Directors. Previously, she was Executive Director and President of the Association of Veterans Affairs Nurse Anesthetists (AVANA). Discharged honorably as a Captain from the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps, she advocates for CRNAs’ integration into healthcare policy and political discourse.
