Marja Sarvimaki is an Associate Professor at Bond University's Abedian School of Architecture, affiliated with the Centre for Comparative Construction Research. She previously held positions at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she also chaired undergraduate programs. With a PhD from Aalto University (formerly Helsinki University of Technology) and post-doctoral research in Japan and Korea, she specializes in Asia-Pacific architecture with a focus on critical regionalism, phenomenology, and adaptive reuse. Her notable works include books on architectural methodology and co-authored studies on Jørn Utzon's transcultural essentialism. She actively supervises PhD candidates and serves on professional boards like Gold Coast Open House and Docomomo International.
