Marius Schwartz is a Professor of Economics at Georgetown University's Department of Economics within the College, where he has taught since 1983. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from UCLA and a B.Sc. (1st class honors) from the London School of Economics. His research focuses on industrial organization, competition, and regulatory policy. From 2011 to present, he served as Chief Economist at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on leave from Georgetown. Previously, he held roles at the DOJ Antitrust Division and the President's Council of Economic Advisers.

Prior government service includes roles as Economics Director of Enforcement at the DOJ (1998–2000), Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economics, and Senior Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers (1995–1996). Consulting engagements span antitrust and regulatory matters for government agencies and private sector clients.
