Prof. Marius Andruh is a Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Bucharest and a Full Member of the Romanian Academy since 2009. He previously served as a Corresponding Member from 2001 to 2008. His research focuses on coordination chemistry, molecular magnetism, and supramolecular architectures, with significant contributions to the development of coordination polymers and metallic-supramolecular systems. He leads projects involving doctoral students and has authored over 300 peer-reviewed articles, achieving an h-index of 50 (WoS), 51 (Scopus), and 52 (Google Scholar).
Prof. Andruh’s key research areas include:
- Supramolecular architectures in coordination chemistry
- Molecular magnetism and 3d-4f hetero-poly-nuclear complexes
- Luminescent molecular materials
- Crystal engineering and coordination polymers
He is recognized for pioneering strategies in synthesizing coordination polymers using homo- and hetero-metallic nodes, as well as discovering novel topologies for these materials. His work on mono-dimensional molecular nano-magnets with multiple metal ions has been particularly influential.
Awards:
- Full Member of the Romanian Academy (2009–present)
- Corresponding Member of the Romanian Academy (2001–2008)
- Doctor Honoris Causa from multiple universities
Prof. Andruh also contributes to science communication through initiatives like the UB Dose of Science, emphasizing the aesthetic and fundamental aspects of molecular research. He holds leadership roles, including President of the Chemical Sciences Section of the Romanian Academy.
