Prof. Marise Ph. Born holds the position of Full Professor of Personnel Psychology at the Institute of Psychology, Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is also an Endowed Professor of Industrial and Personnel Psychology at VU University Amsterdam and an Extraordinary Professor at Optentia, North-West University, South Africa. Her research focuses on personnel selection, cross-cultural psychology, test development, and individual differences. She has served as President of the International Test Commission (2008–2010), Chair of the Institute of Psychology at Erasmus University (2009–2015), and Chair of the Dutch Foundation of Psychotechnics (2015–2020). Currently, she chairs the Board of Foundation NOA. She co-founded the Dutch-Flemish Network for Recruitment and Selection Research (2006) and contributed to the ISO 10667 standard on workforce assessment. Her ongoing research explores situational judgment tests, dark/bright personality traits, and psychological assessment of refugees.
Prof. Born has advised over 20 PhD candidates and actively promotes equitable selection practices. Her leadership roles include former membership in the Dutch Network of Female Professors and current involvement in organizational governance. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in HR and cross-cultural contexts.
