Marion Steiner is a cultural geographer and Canada Research Chair in Urban Heritage at Université du Québec à Montréal. She serves as a professor at the Institute for Geography of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, and directs the Laboratorio de Geografía y Patrimonio ESPI. Her research explores global industrial heritage interpretation, European imperialism, and reconceptualizing industrial heritage from a Southern perspective.

Her work spans World Heritage nominations, industrial heritage preservation, and urban identity studies. She is Secretary General of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage (TICCIH) and fluent in English, German, Spanish, and French.
