Marion Grau is a Professor of Systematic and Constructive Theology at the MF University College of Theology, Religion and Society, part of the Faculty of Theology. She holds a Ph.D. from Drew University and has held academic roles at the Graduate Theological Union in the USA before joining MF in 2015. Her research focuses on postcolonial theology, climate ethics, and the intersections of theology with economics, ecology, and cultural studies.
Key research areas include: climate change activism, petro-political economies, colonial mission history, and ritual practices addressing ecological crisis. She employs interdisciplinary methods blending historical theology, postcolonial theory, and ethnography. Current projects explore Norwegian 'petro-religion' and Arctic Ocean ecologies.
Recent publications analyze climate grief rituals, energy transition theology, and the role of anger in climate action. She co-leads editorial roles for journals like Global Christianity Studies and chairs professional groups in postmodern theology.
Her work bridges academic theology with societal engagement, emphasizing ethical responses to ecological crises through liturgical innovation and decolonial frameworks.
