Marion Dumas

Marion Dumas is an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at LSE. Her work focuses on green innovation, decarbonisation processes, and the interplay between climate action and social equity. She holds a B.Sc. from MIT, an M.Sc. from ETH Zurich, and a PhD from Columbia University. Her research explores technological coordination challenges in clean energy transitions, AI’s role in accelerating innovation, and policies enabling equitable transitions. She leads projects in the AdJUST consortium and contributes to policy evaluations on climate costs and just transition frameworks.

Education: B.Sc. Earth & Atmospheric Sciences (MIT), M.Sc. Environmental Sciences (ETH Zurich), PhD Sustainable Development (Columbia University). Prior to LSE, she was an Omidyar Fellow at the Santa Fe Institute.

Research interests include institutional processes for decarbonisation, green product mainstreaming, and policy design for equity. She has published on automotive industry transitions, AI in clean energy, and the economic impacts of climate change in the UK. Her work bridges environmental economics, political economy, and data-driven policy analysis.

Policy contributions include reports on finance ministries’ roles in energy transitions and regional just transitions in the UK. She actively participates in workshops and events, discussing topics like green product cycles and global coordination challenges in clean tech.
