معرفی
Dr. Mario Mongiardini is a Grant-Funded Researcher at the Centre for Automotive Safety Research (CASR), within the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He joined CASR in 2018 after research roles in the USA (2010-2012) and Sydney (2012-2018). His work spans road safety infrastructure and vehicle safety technologies, with expertise in finite element modeling, crash testing, and data analysis from naturalistic driving studies. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA) and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy).
- PhD in Civil Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (2010)
- MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Polytechnic University of Milan (2003)
Mario Mongiardini's research focuses on road safety, encompassing:
- Road Infrastructure: Safe System approach implementation, roadside safety barrier evaluation, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), and before/after assessments of traditional treatments.
- Vehicle Safety: Advanced Driver Assisting Systems (ADAS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs), quad-bike safety modeling, and high-detail crash event analysis using finite element software.
- Methodologies: Data analysis from naturalistic driving studies, physical crash testing, numerical modeling (e.g., LS-DYNA), and ad-hoc programming for crash prediction.
His collaborative work involves road safety authorities and crash test facilities. He has authored/co-authored peer-reviewed journals, conference papers, and technical reports for road agencies.
