Mario Jorge Rodrigues de Sousa

Mario Jorge Rodrigues de Sousa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). His research focuses on Industrial Automation, including IEC 61131-3/61499 programming standards, real-time systems, distributed systems, and embedded systems.

• Key Contribution: Lead developer of the matiec compiler, an open-source tool for IEC 61131-3 languages used globally by industries and the Beremiz project.
• Affiliations: Integrated Member of SYSTEC - Systems and Technologies Center at the University of Porto.

Teaching includes a continuing education course on Advanced Programming of Automata (IEC 61131-3) since 2017. Active in academic service with roles like Responsible Teacher for specialized courses.
