Mario Indelicato

Mario Indelicato serves as a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities (DISUM) of the University of Catania since June 2023, contributing to the CHANGES-PNRR project. Previously, he held research positions at IBAM-CNR (2018-2019, SPIDEr project) and ISPC-CNR (2020-2021, CLOUD4CITY project).

His educational background includes a PhD in Heritage and Cultural Production Sciences, a specialization in classical archaeology, and a degree in archaeology.

Indelicato specializes in experimental archaeology with emphasis on Roman viticulture and enology, employing multidisciplinary methodologies including historical research, GIS spatial analysis, and ethnographic reconstruction of artisanal techniques. His current work develops conservation protocols for multi-layered Greek and Roman sites in Sicily through database structuring, material analysis, and experimental verification.

He actively participates in international scholarly networks including EXARC since 2014, presenting at Experimental Archaeology Conferences (EAC9 in 2015, EAC11 in 2019) and co-organizing events like the CHAIN International Conference (2022) and IARPotHP 6 (2023).

As a subject expert in Classical Archaeology (SSD L-ANT/10), he delivers seminars and lectures for undergraduate and master's programs in Cultural Heritage and Archaeology at UNICT, while contributing to excavation campaigns and academic conferences such as the 2021 Vine-growing and Winemaking in the Roman World symposium.
