Marina Nicolaidou

Marina Nicolaidou is an Associate Tutor at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia (UEA), and a Postgraduate Researcher specializing in Science and Technology Studies (STS). Her academic journey includes a BSc, MSc, and MRes in Environmental Sciences and Social Science Research Methods, all from UEA. She is affiliated with the Science Society and Sustainability (3S) research group and the UKERC Public Engagement Observatory.

Her research focuses on developing frameworks for reflexive futuremaking through public engagement with geoengineering-related science fiction. Key interests include sociotechnical imaginaries, appraisal methods for emerging technologies, and the interplay between sci-fi narratives and public discourse. She recently co-authored a working paper exploring climate action visions for UEA, emphasizing institutional sustainability and future-oriented policy.

Marina’s academic supervision is under Prof. Jason Chilvers and Dr. Helen Pallett. She contributes to interdisciplinary teams addressing sustainability challenges, bridging gaps between scientific innovation and societal engagement.
