Marina Lao is a Professor at the Seton Hall University School of Law, specializing in Antitrust Law, Competition Policy, Administrative Law, and Corporations. She has held leadership roles, including Director of the FTC’s Office of Policy Planning (2015–2016) and Chair of the AALS Antitrust & Economic Regulation Section (2009–2010). Her research focuses on digital platform regulation, merger analysis reform, and labor exemptions in antitrust law.
Education: Graduated from Albany Law School on a full scholarship. Professional service includes roles on the Board of Advisors for the American Antitrust Institute and Loyola University Chicago’s Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies. Awards include the Fulbright Fellowship (2007–2008), Edward S. Hendrickson Professorship (2008), and recognition from the Asian-American Law Fund (2004).
Her articles analyze FTC rulemaking, noncompete clauses, monopolization in tech markets, and intent-based antitrust enforcement. She frequently lectures globally on antitrust challenges in digital economies, including presentations at the New Zealand Commerce Commission, Tilburg University, and the European University Institute.
