معرفی
Mariliis Jaago is a researcher and data scientist at Protobios LLC, where she has worked since August 2017 at 50% capacity. She earned her Doctor's Degree in 2023 from Tallinn University of Technology with research focused on host-agent-environment interactions using metagenomic sequencing and phage display technology, supervised by Kaia Palm and Tõnis Timmusk. Her academic foundation includes a Master's Degree (2017) in genetic engineering from the same institution, where she studied transcription factors in fruit fly nervous systems.
Her educational background features:
- PhD in Chemistry and Biotechnology, Tallinn University of Technology (2018-2023)
- MSc in Genetic Engineering, cum laude (2015-2017)
- BSc in Genetic Engineering, cum laude (2012-2015)
- Pärnu Koidula Gymnasium, Biology/Chemistry focus, gold medal (2009-2012)
Dr. Jaago's research bridges immunology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics through innovative antibody profiling techniques. Her work reveals connections between immune responses and neurological disorders, cardiovascular conditions, and microbiome dynamics. She specializes in computational analysis of complex immunological data to identify disease biomarkers and understand molecular mimicry mechanisms across diverse medical conditions.
Her publication record shows consistent advancement in immunoprofiling applications, with recent work focusing on schizophrenia progression patterns, multiple sclerosis biomarkers, cardiovascular disease connections to oral pathogens, and pre-existing immunity to coronaviruses. Her research demonstrates how computational approaches can uncover hidden relationships between immune responses and disease states.
Dr. Jaago currently contributes to the Estonian Research Council-funded project 'Characterization of immunological correlates and mechanisms of neurological disorders' (2023-2027, 749,250 EUR), working under principal investigator Kaia Palm. Previously, she participated in the project 'Immunity regulation on transcriptional level links metabolic syndrome and perturbed neural function' (2019-2022, 692,250 EUR), demonstrating her ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of immunology and neuroscience.
