Marilù Papandreou is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bergen. Her research focuses on Aristotle’s metaphysics, particularly his ontology of artifacts and the interpretation of his works through ancient and Byzantine commentaries. She explores topics such as hylomorphism, form and matter, and teleology in ancient philosophy. Her work bridges ancient thought with contemporary metaphysical debates, emphasizing the analysis of texts by commentators like Asclepius of Tralles and Michael of Ephesus.
Key research areas include Aristotelian studies, Byzantine philosophy, and the methodology of ancient metaphysics. She has published a monograph and numerous articles on artifacts in Aristotle’s ontology, infinite regress arguments in metaphysics, and the transformation of philosophical concepts across ancient and medieval thinkers. Her lectures and presentations address themes such as animal artifacts, habitability, and the evolution of predication theories in Aristotelian commentaries.
Recent contributions include a critical review of Thomas Kjeller Johansen’s edited volume on technê and a book review on Andrea Falcon’s Aristotelismo. Her work is characterized by meticulous textual analysis and interdisciplinary engagement with both historical and modern philosophical frameworks.
