Marika Hyttinen is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Humanities at the University of Oulu, Faculty of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Archaeology (2021) and an MA in Science Communication. Her research focuses on contemporary, historical, and industrial archaeology, with emphases on gender relations (particularly women's roles), children, material culture, and community dynamics. She currently leads the Kone Foundation-funded project 'Contemporary archaeological perspective on the inequalities of the welfare society: Vaakunakylä and its communities (1947–1925).'
