Marija Matković is a Researcher at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry) in Zagreb. She holds a B.Sc. (2002) and Ph.D. (2010) in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. Her research focuses on organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biophysical chemistry, particularly in nucleic acid interactions, photochemical reactivity, and drug delivery systems. She has supervised two master’s theses (2011) and contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2006. Key projects include studies on photosensitive cyclic peptides and CRISPR-Cas3 nuclease mechanisms. Her work frequently explores light-responsive molecules and their applications in diagnostics and therapy.
Dr. Matković’s publications highlight innovations in fluorescent probes for nucleic acid sensing, enzymatic hydrolases, and supramolecular chemistry. She collaborates internationally and actively participates in conferences, presenting advancements in areas like DNA repair mechanisms and anticancer drug design. Her lab is part of the Laboratory for Biomolecular Interactions and Spectroscopy, emphasizing spectroscopic and biophysical techniques for molecular analysis.
