Dijana Pavlović Saftić

Dijana Pavlović Saftić is a Senior Research Associate at the Laboratory for Biomolecular Interactions and Spectroscopy within the Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, Croatia. She holds a PhD in Natural Sciences from the University of Zagreb (2013) and has conducted postdoctoral research in Croatia and Poland. Her work focuses on organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and biotechnology, with emphasis on nucleic acid derivatives, molecular sensors, and drug design.

Education: PhD (2013) and M.Sc. (2007) in Biotechnology from the University of Zagreb. Postdoctoral training included stays at the Institute of Medical Biology PAS (Poland) and the Ruđer Bošković Institute.

Research interests include synthesis of bioactive nucleobase derivatives, development of fluorescent probes for DNA/RNA, and evaluation of anticancer/antiviral agents. Her projects involve collaborations on EU-funded initiatives and bilateral Croatian-Chinese research.

Scientific achievements include the 2018 RBI award and multiple fellowships. Active in teaching roles, including lectures on oligonucleotide applications and biomedical analytics.
