Marijana Radić Stojković is a Researcher at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI), affiliated with the Division of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Laboratory for Biomolecular Interactions and Spectroscopy. Her academic background includes a B.Sc. from the University of Zagreb (1998), postgraduate studies in Organic Chemistry (2001-2009), and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry focused on nucleic acid interactions (2009). She has served as a guest lecturer for courses such as 'Physiological Effects of Plant Compounds and Extracts' and 'Stereochemistry' at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Science.
Her research interests revolve around organic synthesis, nucleic acid interactions (DNA/RNA), drug design, and bioactive compounds from natural sources like Centaurea ragusina. Her work bridges medicinal chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and analytical techniques, emphasizing fluorescent probes, antiproliferative agents, and enzyme inhibition mechanisms.
Key projects include molecular recognition of DNA/RNA hybrid structures, synthesis of cyanine dyes for nucleic acid detection, and development of photodynamic antiproliferative agents. She has advised numerous students on thesis topics such as benzothiazole derivatives, lignan bioactivity, and DNA/RNA interactions using spectroscopic methods.
Her contributions span over 50 peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations, and educational initiatives like the Synecological STEM project. Current research focuses on advancing theranostic agents and understanding nucleic acid recognition mechanisms through innovative chemical probes.
