Marija Lazovska serves as Laboratory Quality Manager at the Institute of Oncology and Molecular Genetics, Scientific Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, and is an Acting Researcher-Doctoral Student at Riga Stradins University. Her academic journey includes dual master's degrees in Biological Sciences from Dresden University of Technology and Riga Stradiņš University.
Her research interests span molecular genetics with particular emphasis on male infertility mechanisms, cell-free DNA analysis in reproductive medicine, microbiome studies of vector-borne diseases, and cancer genetics. Her work demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between basic molecular research and clinical applications.
Lazovska's publication record shows a clear trajectory toward non-invasive diagnostic approaches in male infertility, with recent work focusing on cell-free DNA fragment analysis in seminal plasma. Her research also extends to microbiome analysis of tick species and circadian regulation in cancer treatment resistance, indicating broad expertise across multiple domains of molecular genetics.
She actively participates in numerous collaborative research projects including the Doctoral grant for RSU and LASE PhD students, NOVAFERT: Novel Advances in Fertility Expertise, and projects focused on genetic testing of intimate cosmetics. As project leader for research on cell-free DNA profiles in male infertility, she demonstrates growing independence in her research career.
Lazovska regularly presents her work at international conferences including the 13th Latvian Conference on Rare Diseases, the International Symposium on Spatial-Temporal Genome Regulation, and specialized courses in human genetic diagnostics. Her research has been featured in media outlets covering advances in male infertility research and microorganism studies.
