Linda Gailīte is the Deputy Director for Rare Diseases at the Institute of Oncology and Molecular Genetics and serves as a Lead Researcher-Scientific Project Manager at Rīga Stradiņš University. Her roles involve overseeing rare disease research and managing complex scientific projects. She holds Expert qualifications in Basic Medicine from the Latvian Council of Science (2018–2026).
Her research focuses on genetic screening, molecular diagnostics, and rare disease mechanisms. Key areas include inherited peripheral neuropathies, genetic testing for infertility, and biomarker analysis in neurodegenerative disorders. Projects like ERDERA (EU Horizon Europe) and NOVAFERT (Interreg) highlight her work in rare diseases and fertility advancements.
She has published 129 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work on genetic aetiology of uterine cervix issues, Charcot-Marie-Tooth biomarkers, and laryngeal papillomatosis genetics. Her 2022 award from Riga Stradins University recognizes her contributions to medical research.
Gailīte supervises multiple projects, including PhD research on male infertility genetics. She actively reviews for journals like Clinical Genetics and participates in international collaborations. Her team contributes to data-driven advancements in genetic medicine and clinical diagnostics.
