Dr. Marieke Bolling is a physician scientist and dermatologist affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. She practices at the UMCG (University Medical Center Groningen) and serves as Medical Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary EB Team and Genodermatoses Consultations. Her work focuses on Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), Autoimmune Blistering Diseases, and Genetic Skin Disorders.
Marieke Bolling's research leverages Next-Generation Sequencing and Long-Read Sequencing to advance genome diagnostics for EB, while exploring Er:YAG Ablative Laser Therapy for Hailey-Hailey disease. She contributes to European Reference Network initiatives and develops Care Pathways for EB Patients, particularly in Oral Health. Her collaborations span Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Clinical Dermatology disciplines.
She received the Best Presentation Award at the 2009 Nederlandse Vereniging voor Experimentele Dermatologie (NVED) meeting for her work on Keratin 1 Founder Mutations. Her publications address Peptidoglycan Microarrays for antibody profiling, EGFR Inhibition in desmosome disorders, and Alitretinoin Therapy for ichthyosis in women. Marieke Bolling is also involved in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome research through antibody analysis and Quality of Life Studies for EB patients.
