Marie Oscarsson is a Professor of Reproductive, Perinatal, and Sexual Health at Linnaeus University, serving as Program Coordinator for the Midwifery program in Kalmar/Växjö. She holds academic appointments in the Department of Health and Care Sciences under the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Her work is deeply rooted in clinical practice and patient-oriented research.
Dr. Oscarsson earned her Doctor of Medicine (2007) from Linköping University, focusing on non-attendance in cervical cancer screening. She supervises four doctoral students as primary advisor and two as co-advisor, contributing to postgraduate education. Her teaching spans midwifery program coordination, course examinations, and thesis supervision at master's level.
Her research focuses on cervical cancer prevention (screening, HPV vaccination, STI prevention), obstetric practices (amniotomy, labor management), and educational innovations (simulation training). Notable projects include developing a bilingual communication app for Arabic-Swedish antenatal care and studying prolonged labor stages in nulliparous women. She collaborates with regional healthcare providers and has led projects funded by Vinnova and the Kamprad Family Foundation.
Key contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from HPV vaccination decision-making to midwifery communication challenges. Her work addresses vulnerable populations like immigrant women and youth exposed to violence.
