She is affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Department of Geoscience, specializing in biogeochemical processes in rhizospheres under environmental stressors.
Education:
- Diplom in Biology (University of Tübingen, 2001-2008)
- Study Abroad Program (Oregon State University, 2004-2005)
- PhD in Environmental Science (University of Tübingen, 2009-2013)
Her research investigates how climate change and metallic soil contaminants interact to affect biogeochemical processes in plant root zones, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, food security, and greenhouse gas dynamics. She leads projects funded by the DFG, Helmholtz Association, and Marie Sklodowska Curie grants.
Scientific Awards:
- German Dissertation Award Medalist (2014)
- University of Tübingen PhD Award (2014)
- Department of Geoscience PhD Award (2014)
- Biotechnica Study Award Medalist (2008)
Muehe actively engages in public outreach, contributing to popular science publications, press releases, and presentations for schools, NGOs, and media outlets. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Ithaka Institute of Carbon Intelligence since 2018.
