Marie Linton is an Associate Professor at the Department of Law, Uppsala University, specializing in International Private and Procedural Law. She holds a Doctor of Law (2002) and Bachelor of Laws (1994) from Uppsala University. Her roles include Chair of the Swedish Society for Comparative Legal Research (since 2004) and member of the International Academy of Comparative Law (since 2012).

Her research focuses on Private International Law, Procedural Law, EU Law, and Consumer Law, with an emphasis on cross-border enforcement, recognition of foreign judgments, and the impact of EU regulations on national legal systems. Recent projects include analyzing the 2019 Hague Convention’s barriers to judgment enforcement and the interplay of Brussels I Regulation with national rules.
Marie’s 15 most recent publications examine EU judicial cooperation, enforcement mechanisms, and legal harmonization, particularly in cross-border debt collection, service of documents, and small claims procedures. Themes include the evolution of Brussels I Regulation, enforcement criteria, and comparative studies of EU member states’ legal frameworks.
