Prof. Dr. Jan von Hein is a Professor of Civil Law, Private International Law, and Comparative Law at the University of Freiburg, serving as Director of the Institute for Foreign and International Private Law (Department III). His academic career includes roles at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Harvard Law School, and universities in Hamburg, Trier, and others. He specializes in private international law, comparative law, European private law, and civil procedural law, with a focus on jurisdiction, enforcement, and cross-border legal issues.
