Dr. Marie Karner is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Geography, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She holds a PhD in Geography from the same institution (2020) and specialized in (neo-)diasporic communities, migration, urban transformation, and tourism studies. Her regional expertise includes Lebanon, the UAE, South America, and Australia. Key research focuses include diaspora concepts, migration narratives, and the touristification of urban spaces.
