Marie Jönsson is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Örebro University's Department of Health Sciences (School of Health Sciences). She holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from Örebro University (2022) and is a licensed occupational therapist. Her primary roles include teaching on undergraduate and master's programs focusing on rehabilitative and health-promoting practices for older adults.
Her research concentrates on activity capacity and everyday experiences of older adults readmitted to hospitals, examining interventions during hospital stays and post-discharge. Key projects include:
- Everyday activities in older adults readmitted to hospital: Analyzes patient and caregiver perspectives to inform intervention strategies
- REDem Project: Developing culturally inclusive dementia care environments across Halmstad, Stockholm, and Örebro
Collaborations include researchers from Mälardalen, Kristianstad, and Gothenburg universities. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches through the WellCET group, focusing on care environments and technologies to promote well-being.
Her research outputs span qualitative studies on caregiver perspectives, barriers to daily occupations, and intervention effectiveness in geriatric care settings. Current projects aim to improve equity in dementia care for linguistically/culturally diverse populations.
